Wisdom teeth (third molars) are the last teeth to erupt, usually between the ages of 17 and 25. In the majority of cases, in Luxembourg as in France, the jaw is not large enough to accommodate them properly — leading to pain, infections or other positioning complications.
When should wisdom teeth be extracted?
- Infections and pericoronitis : Recurring pain and swelling in the back of the mouth caused by inflammation of the mucous hood that surrounds the erupting tooth.
- Impacted or semi-impacted teeth : Teeth blocked partially or completely in the jawbone, unable to erupt normally.
- Lack of space : Teeth in poor position which exert harmful pressure on adjacent teeth (molars), risking damage to them.
- Caries : Formation of difficult-to-access caries on the wisdom tooth itself or on the neighboring tooth.
- Orthodontics : Prior extraction necessary to free up space in the jaw before or after an alignment treatment.
How does the extraction take place at Cabinet Apex?
The intervention is planned with the greatest care by our team:
- Initial assessment : A prior consultation with panoramic x-ray or 3D examination (Cone Beam) carried out in the office allows you to visualize the precise positioning of the roots and the mandibular nerve.
- Effective local anesthesia : The entire intervention zone is asleep. You will not feel any pain during the act, only light pressure.
- Simple or surgical extraction :
- For a visible tooth (on the arch): 5 to 10 minutes is enough.
- For a tooth impacted under the gum or in the bone: 20 to 40 minutes with absorbable micro-sutures.
- Monitoring and instructions : Submission of a written post-operative advice sheet and a suitable prescription (painkillers, antibiotics and mouthwash if necessary). A work stoppage can be issued to you upon request.
💡 Post-operative follow-up and comfort
A free follow-up consultation at 7-10 days is planned to check that the tissues have healed perfectly. In case of persistent pain or doubt, our emergency service remains available to see you immediately.
